Pur non avendo segnato sei stato premiato per il grande lavoro che fai: contento?
Si, sono contento ma non è importante il premio perchè tutti dobbiamo aiutarci: stasera è toccato a me, la prossima ad un altro ragazzo. L’hockey è uno sport di squadra ed il nostro obiettivo è vincere le partite: se giochiamo uniti tutto è più facile.
Come ti trovi in Serie A1?
E’ bello giocare nel massimo campionato! La squadra dell’anno scorso ha vinto il campionato di A2, quest’anno è molto più dura e dobbiamo puntare molto sulle partite in casa cercando di fare più punti possibili qui a Pontebba perchè andare in trasferta è stancante visto che dobbiamo fare sempre 4 o 5 ore di viaggio ed il che è molto stressante.
Assieme a Buzzi sei l’unico giocatore ad essere in questa squadra da tre anni, ti senti un pò "speciale"?
No, no, non mi sento speciale ma mi sento fortunato ad essere qui e far parte di questa squadra che ha grandi giocatori, grandissimi fans e poi mi piace anche il paese.
Sei cresciuto assieme a questa squadra dunque?
Si, questi tre anni mi sono serviti molto, sia giocare in A2 che, soprattutto, in A1.
Cosa ne pensi della situazione dell’hockey sloveno considerando la partecipazione dello Jesenice al campionato austriaco?
Credo che questo non vada bene perchè le altre squadre slovene non hanno la possibilità di migliorare. L’anno prossimo forse anche l’Olimpia Lubiana andrà a giocare in Austria e non credo che questo faccia bene al movimento sloveno.
Però lo Jesenice si sta comportando abbastanza bene…
Si ma il problema non è quello di trovare i soldi per allestire una squadra competitiva visto che sono riusciti ad unire quasi tutti i giocatori della Nazionale. Il problema lo hanno soprattutto i giovani che nello Jesenice non hanno possibilità i giocare e sono costretti a giocare nel campionato sloveno dove il livello non è gran chè e così non possono migliorarsi. Adesso i giovani giocano nella lega slovena, però potrebbe essere che tra due o tre anni finiscono i soldi e quindi questi ragazzi si trovano ad essere senza squadra.

Miha Zbontar at the end of the game where his Team Aquile won versus Val Pusteria (with the final score of 5-4) was rewarded as player of the match: he hasn’t either scored or assisted but he has worked very hard helping his teammates during each and everyone of his shifts.
You didn’t score but you have been rewarded as player of the match for your hard work, are you happy?
Yes, I am happy but the prize is not that important. As a team, it is our duty to help each other, tonight it was my turn to help and maybe next time it will be somebody else’s. Our main goal is to win the games and if we play as one everything will be easier.
How does it feel to play in the first division of the Italian Championship?
It feels good! Last year team Aquile won the A2 championship but this year is a lot harder than the past season: when we play on the road it usually takes four or five hours to reach the opponent’s arena and this gets us really tired and not in the best mood to approach the game, therefore we have to try to get as many points as we can when we play in our home ice.
Together with Buzzi you’re the only player who has been playing with team Aquile for three years, don’t you feel a little “special”?
No, I don’t feel special though I feel really lucky to be here and be part of this team which has a lot of great players as well as awesome fans. Also the town is nice.
Do you think you grew up along with this team?
Yes, these three years helped me a lot improving as a player, especially now that I am experiencing the level of the serie A1.
What do you think of the level of the ice hockey movement in Slovenia, considering that now Jesenice is playing in the Austrian league?
I think that Jesenice playing in a foreign league is no good for my hometown’s hockey development since this gives no chance to improve. Also Olimpia Lubiana might be playing in the Austrian championship next year and this will only get things worse.
Jesenice is doing pretty good though…
Yes but the main problem is not finding enough money to build a competitive hockey team since many players of our National team play for Jesenice. The point is that in team Jesenice the young guys don’t have a chance to play for this team so they are forced to play in Slovenia where the level is not that good therefore it’s hard for them to improve. They might be able to play for a couple of years but if the league runs out of money they will have no team where they can play.
