HT: Il campionato quest’anno sarà più impegnativo dell’anno scorso, perché giocherete in media ogni 3-4 giorni, quindi prevediamo quasi nessun giorno libero, come affronterete tutto ciò?

Interview with Ryan Menei, the matchwinner of the game with Maribor!

By Franca & Seba P.

The game with Maribor of yesterday has seemed easy to win seeing the result, but as Ryan Menei said me, no game is easy.

HT: Please Ryan, give me an opinion about the result of the game..Was it easy to win or not?
RM: During the first time we tried to sink the winning shoot immediately, thanks to defense men too, that made their good work. No games are easy to win unfortunately, but when everything goes in the right way as tonight you win, and we deserved that!

HT: Four assist for you, you were agile, speed, particularly inspired, but how do you feel in this period as for as your physical condition?
RM: I feel very good, I’m playing with a couple of good players and our coach Jimmy Camazzola is following us in the best way and step by step we are finding our best athletic condition.

HT: Tell me something about your previous experiences in the North America, I know you had two last great seasons, but which is the best absolutely?
RM: Last year in Mississippi I had a great season, it has been fantastic, we were a really good team..Another good season I played during the juniors in Canada, they taught you to be leader, helped you to grow up…you know, we were just 16-17 years old…

HT: A balance about the last two games of your team, are you working hard in particular on something during the practices or not?
RM: Not really, Jimmy is preparing us about everything, every game is prepared in the possible way, probably power play is very important, sometimes it helps you to change the result of a game, anyway we are working hard, so that’s good.

HT: Championship of this year will be more engaging than last year, cause you’ll play about every three days, no days off, but how will you face that?
RM: Well, in the North America I used to play 4-5 games a week, so for me it’s quite normal, anyway playing a lot can just benefits players and the whole sport. It helps you to remain concentrated about every game, so as games played before remain behind you and nothing else.

HT: Ritual question, you have been here since last week, what’s your opinion about the city, people, and team?
RM: I like it very much, it’s incredible this team, there are a couple of really good players here, Asiago is beautiful, I didn’t know what to expect coming from Canada, cause I know it was different from my country. Anyway, even if Asiago is smaller than my city, I have already learned to love it!

HT: In the future would you play in the blue team? I’m sure it’s one of your many dreams…
RM: For sure, I have got an Italian passport that gives me this chance. You know, it’s always nice to could represent your country, I live in Canada, but I have Italian origins, so in two next years I’ll do all is possible to entry in the national team.

HT: Is there a particular reason for which you decided to come to play in Italy?
RM: Yes, you know, during the career of an ice hockey player you could realize that NHL is not indicated for you, so you do all your best to have a great career anyway. I decide to come here to make reach my curriculum, but also to make experience. Then you know I feel half Italian, my father comes from Italy, He was born in the South Italy, so It¬’s like I was born here!
