HockeyTime.netDopo un combattutissimo match che ha visto vittorioso il Val Pusteria, abbiamo rivolto un paio di domande al protagonista giallo-rosso Stanley, che ha realizzato una bellissima doppietta.
HT: Ciao Chris, risultato finale 5 a 2 a vostro sfavore; due periodi molto bilanciati, molte occasioni importanti, ma forse qualcosa nel periodo finale non ha girato nel verso giusto, che cosa avete sbagliato?
CS: Credo che abbiamo giocato nel complesso un buon match, abbiamo cercato di far valere la nostra forza nell’uno contro uno, abbiamo avuto diverse occasioni ghiotte per realizzare il 3 a 3, ma il loro portiere ha effettuato dei grandissimi salvataggi e noi non siamo riusciti a raggiungere quantomeno il pareggio.
HT: Hai realizzato tu le due reti dell’Asiago, sei stato uno dei migliori in campo, in tanti ora dicono che sei tu il giocatore di cui questo team aveva davvero bisogno. Come giudicheresti la tua prestazione?
CS: Diciamo che ho giocato abbastanza bene, ci sono altri ragazzi che sono davvero molto in forma, ognuno di noi cerca di dare il proprio contributo, cerchiamo di creare i giusti varchi cosicché gli attaccanti possano avere sulla stecca le occasioni da goal più propizie.
HT: Dopo due gare emerge che questa squadra è molto combattiva, determinata e tenace; a volte sbagliate delle occasioni clamorose, ma il materiale su cui lavorare c’è. Quali sono ad ogni modo i punti negativi e positivi fino a questo punto?
CS: Abbiamo un paio di giovani leve molto interessante, dopo quello che è successo due settimane fa ora i ragazzi giocano ognuno per gli altri, ci aiutiamo a vicenda, sembra che tutto in generale stia trovando la propria dimensione, cerchiamo di giocare per Darcy, ognuno di noi lavora al massimo delle proprie capacità, e come detto prima con i giovani che crescono di partita in partita avremo senz’altro a disposizione un gran potenziale. Poi invece i veterani cercheranno di collaborare con loro proprio per formare un’unica grande squadra.
HT: Quindi state preparando partita per partita o fate progetti a lunga scadenza?
CS: No assolutamente niente a scadenza, pensiamo partita per partita, anzi, tempo per tempo, facciamo uno scalino alla volta, vinciamo se dobbiamo vincere, e lavoriamo sodo, come deve essere d’altronde.
HT: Dopo appena due settimane dall’inizio del campionato, possiamo dire che il livello attuale è molto buono, c’è un grande equilibrio; Renon e Fassa sono le sorprese di quest’anno, ma nel complesso tutti i team sembrano avere buone possibilità di vincere qualcosa d’importante. Qual è il tuo pensiero in generale?
CS: Le nuove regole fanno sì che il gioco delle squadre sia più veloce, lavorando alla migliore condizione ognuno ne potrà trarre dei benefici; Renon, Fassa e Brunico stanno facendo un gran lavoro, ma tutti stanno cercando di spremere al massimo le proprie potenzialità. Sono convinto che se noi lavoreremo con la testa e il cuore saremo una gran sorpresa per tutti e arriveremo lontano.
HT: Quale tra le tue precedenti esperienze hockeyistiche ritieni sia stata la più utile per la tua carriera?
CS: Quando avevo 19 anni vinsi il campionato nelle juniores, in Canada, poi ho vinto un altro campionato in Germania l’anno scorso, quella è stata un’esperienza molto importante per me, un anno davvero speciale per me stesso, ma ora sono molto eccitato di essere qui, è una grand’opportunità per la mia carriera sportiva, qui la squadra è davvero molto competitiva e come ti ho detto arriveremo lontano.
HT: Quali motivazioni ti hanno spinto ad affrontare questa nuova esperienza italiana ad Asiago?
CS: Volevo giocare in una grande lega in Europa, il campionato italiano è senza dubbio uno dei migliori e ad ogni modo il livello sta migliorando d’anno in anno. E’ stata una scelta che ho fatto per mettermi alla prova, qui la gente vive di hockey, la città è molto piacevole e la comunità intera mi ha accolto nel miglior modo possibile. Io vengo da una città piccola, Parry Sound, quindi mi diverte molto vivere in una piccola cittadina come Asiago. E’ la mia prima esperienza in Italia e dopo la grande stagione vissuta in Germania mi preparo ad affrontarne un’altra altrettanto buona qui in questo bellissimo posto!

Interview with Chris Stanley
After a very fighter match that Brunico has won against Asiago, We made a couple of questions to the protagonist of the night, Stanley, that scored both the two goals.
HT: Hi Chris, final result 5 to 2 against you: two balanced periods, a lot of chances to score during the game, a penalty not realized, something you have done not so well, what?
CS: I think We have overall played a really good game, we tried to show and use our force to beat the other team, We had a couple of chances to score the third goal, but Gage (Brunico’s Goalie) made great saves, so you know it has been impossible for us to take away at least one point.
HT: You scored both the two goals of your team, you have been the best on ice, and many people at the moment consider you the right player for this team. How would you describe your performance?
CS: I played quite well, other guys also are playing very well, each one of us tries to do his best, we try to create the right opens to let all to score more goal as possible.
HT: After two games it’s clear this team is very fighter and tenacious: sometimes lack of precision, but overall there’s a lot of material at disposal to work well. Which are the good and weak points of your team?
CS: Our young guys are growing up very well, after is happened a couple of weeks ago now everybody is playing for each other, everything in general is going in the right way, we play every game for Darcy, everybody of us does his best. Game by game the rich of this team will come out and we will get important satisfactions.
HT: So are you planning for the future or playing game by game?
CS: Absolutely not planning the future, we play game by game, period for period, step by step, we win if we have and work hard, because that’s the only thing to do.
HT: After just two weeks from the beginning of the season, We can say the present level in the championship is very good; Renon and Fassa are the surprise of this year, but overall all the teams seem to be able to get something important. What’s your general thinking about that?
CS: New rules makes this championship more speed, Renon and Fassa are doing a really good work, ma everybody is making all the best to help his own team to win. I’m sure if we will work hard with our head and heart, we will be the new surprise of this year, with Renon and Fassa.
HT: Which between your previous hockey experiences has been more useful for your carrier?
CS: When I was 19 I won the championship in juniors In Canada, the I won another championship last year in Germany, that was a really good experience for me, a really important and special year for myself, but now I’m really excited to be here, that’s a great opportunity for me, for my carrier, this team as I said is very strong, we will arrive very far.
HT: Why did you accept to live this new Italian experience in Asiago?
CS: I just wanted to play in a great league in Europe, Italian championship is one of the best and the general level is growing up year by year. It has been a choose very easy, because I wanted to show myself what I’m able to do, then here people live for this sport, every body is treating me very well as one of them! I personally come from a little city, Parry Sound, so I really enjoy staying here in Asiago, that’s my first experience in Italy and I hope it will be great as the last one in Germany!
