HockeyTime.netVederlo in campo è uno spettacolo per gli occhi, lotta sino alla fine, corre instancabilmente per 60 minuti, il giocatore che tutti vorrebbero nella propria squadra…Jon Pittis! L’ho incontrato in un locale di Asiago fresco di ritorno da Mosca e gli ho fatto qualche domandina per sapere se potremo ancora apprezzare le sue doti qui ad Asiago…
Hockeyitme: Ciao Jon, 9 goal e 25 assist rappresentano il bottino personale di questa stagione, quasi come l’anno scorso, ma come giudichi nel complesso le tue prestazioni?
Jon Pittis: La scorsa stagione ho segnato molti più goal, ma nel complesso è stata una stagione personale abbastanza buona. All’inizio è stata dura perché non è semplice sentirsi ultimi in classifica, ma dopo il periodo di gennaio abbiamo iniziato a giocare meglio specialmente grazie all’arrivo di John Tucker (the Coach); dobbiamo pero’ capire che stiamo costruendo la squadra per vincere in futuro, un futuro in cui io spero di esserci.
HT: Quali pensi siano state le motivazioni per cui avete avuto cosi tante difficoltà nel vincere le partite? Credi sia dovuto principalmente alla mancanza di esperienza o cos’altro?
JP: Penso che questo sia stato solo uno dei motivi per cui abbiamo avuto un inizio molto travagliato, mancava qualcuno che sapesse impartire delle regole precise, qualcuno che ci guidasse, un punto di riferimento, quando l’abbiamo trovato tutta la squadra ha iniziato a girare, abbiamo vinto partite importanti e risalito la classifica. L’importante è essere riusciti a dimostrare che questa squadra ha molto da dare al campionato italiano ancora per un bel po’…
HT: Che ne pensi del progetto della dirigenza di costruire passo dopo passo una squadra competitiva?
JP: E’ una buona scelta non ci sono dubbi, l’unica mia perplessità è legata al fatto che ho paura che sarà difficile continuare con questo progetto anche per i prossimi anni, ci vogliono molte risorse economiche, giocatori all’altezza e gente piena di grinta che sappia continuare su questa linea, io spero veramente che tutto ciò non accada, ma bisognerà impegnarsi al massimo..
HT: E’ chiaro che da quando Jon Tucker è arrivato qui molte cose sono cambiate; tutto il team sembra essere rinato, avete giocato delle buone partite e tu e i tuoi compagni sembravate entusiasti di averlo come head coach…ma quali differenze hai riscontrato tra Ennio e John?
JP: Ennio era troppo buono, non ci teneva per così dire sotto torchio, non aveva fissato delle regole che dovessimo rispettare e alla fine tutti noi ne abbiamo risentito…mentre John sin dall’inizio ha cercato di imporre il suo modo di giocare, la sua visione di allenatore, ognuno di noi ha dovuto seguire le regole impartite e l’ambiente in generale ha iniziato a giovarne. Io credo che lui sia l’allenatore giusto per questa squadra, lui, la società e i giocatori che ci saranno potranno davvero costruire qualcosa di importante…
HT: Una piccola previsione sul tuo futuro…ti vedremo ancora in quel di Asiago o stai considerando altre offerte?
JP: Io qui ad Asiago mi trovo benissimo, amo questo posto, la gente e i tifosi, la squadra, solo che sto valutando altre offerte da altre compagini sportive… la prossima settimana forse saprò dire qualcosa di più preciso. Ci tengo a ribadire che perà spero veramente di rimanere qui ad Asiago e vincere con i miei compagni lo scudetto..
HT: Tu sai bene che la sottoscritta è una tua grande fan, ma credo che tutti i tifosi giallo-rossi concordino nel dire che sei una parte importante di questa squadra…un grande lottatore, dai sempre il massimo, vorresti costruire il tuo futuro qui ad Asiago?
JP: Come ti ho detto nella domanda precedente l’intenzione e la voglia c’è, voglio però valutare tutte le proposte che mi giungono, perché voglio costruire il mio futuro, sono ancora giovane e voglio migliorarmi..io ho sempre fatto il massimo per l’Asiago e, apprezzo molto questo tuo attestato di stima nei miei confronti.
HT: Forse l’Asiago non vincerà immediatamente, il progetto della società è di costruire qualcosa di buono nei prossimi 2-3 anni, lasciando ai giovani il tempo di maturare, facendo una buona campagna acquisti in difesa e in attacco e, provando a trattenere giocatori dal forte potenziale come te, Jon tanto per citarne qualcuno…credi possa essere abbastanza?
JP: E’ questione di tempo per capirlo, le altre squadre si ritroveranno ad affrontare il nostro stesso problema, cioè il cambio generazionale, vedremo se ci saranno novità in termini di limitazione di stranieri oppure no, quali nuovi ragazzi arriveranno dal settore giovanile, quale sarà l’andamento in generale del campionato, tutto da vedere insomma…
HT: Non mi resta che augurarti di tornare ancora a calcare le piste asiaghesi…in bocca al lupo Jon!
JP: A presto allora..grazie ancora!

The great fighter from Canada… interview with Jonathan Pittis!

To see him on the ice is a show, he fights till the end, runs for all 60 minutes, the player that anyone would love to have in their own team…Jon Pittis!
I met him in Asiago, he had just arrived from Moscow and I asked him a couple of questions including some anticipations on his future…
Hockeytime: Hi Jon, 9 goals and 25 assist are your statistics, nearly the points you had last year, but how would you judge your season overall?
Jon Pittis: The last year I scored more goals, but I think I played well enough this season, it has been hard at the begininning because it’s not good being the last team of the championship, but after January we played much better especially with the arrive of John Tucker, we have to realize we are building the team for the future, a future which I hope to be part of.
HT: Which are in your opinion the reasons why the team has had big difficoulties in winning games? Maybe due to the low experience among the players of the team?
JP: I think that this was only one of the reasons why we had a troubled starting, we missed someone being able to impose specific rules, somebody who could lead us, a leader so to speak and when we found him all the team started to do better, we won some very important games and we climbed the standings. The important thing for us was being able to prove that this team still has a lot to give to the Italian championship.
HT: What do you think about the project of the management regarding the building of a young winning team for the future?
JP: I think it’s a good choice, there’s no doubt about it, my only concern is the fact that I am afraid that it will be hard to keep on going with this project in the next years, you need lots of money, skilled and experienced players and the administrators have to keep their motivation up high for a very long time. I really hope that nothing bad happens but it will be necessary to always work hard.
HT: It’s clear that ever since John Tucker arrived here many things have changed, all the team seemed to beborn again, you had some good games and you and your mates seem very excited with him.. but which are the main differences between him and Ennio Sacilotto?
JP: Ennio was a good guy, too good sometimes, he wasn’t able to be strict with us, he has never imposed some rules that we had to follow so in the end we all drifted apart.
John Tucker instead ever since he came here has tried to impose his way of playing, his view of the things and everyone of us had to follow what he said and that helped us a lot. I think he is the right man for this team, him, the managers and the players could really be able to build something important.
HT: A little prediction about your future…will we see you again next year in Asiago or are you considering offers from other teams?
JP: I feel very good in Asiago, I love this place, the people, the fans, the team but I am also considering other offers, I might be able to know something else by next week. I do want to say though that I really hope to stay here in Asiago and win the championship with my teammates.
HT: You know that the person is interviewing you is a great fan of yours, but I’m sure everybody agrees to say that you are an important part of this team, your contribution is always at the highest, you’re a great fighter…would you like to build your future with this team?
JP: As I told you previously my intention is to stay here but I also would like to view all the offers that I will receive because I am still young and I want to improve as much as I can. I always gave my best with Asiago and I really appreciate your good words regarding me.
HT: Maybe Asiago won’t win immediately, the project is to create a great team within the next 2-3 years, while the young players will grow up, making some important trades for the offence and difence and trying to keep here players like you, Jon and so on…do you think it’s enough to do that?
JP: Well only time will tell, the other teams will have to face our same problem that is replacing the veterans with the young players. We’ll see if there will be any news in terms of foreign player limits, which new guys will come up from the farm team, what the new season brings…we’ll see what happens!
HT: Well I hope you’ll be back with Asiago…good luck Jon!
