HT: Ciao Dominic, prima di tutto congratulazioni per la tua marcatura, ci puoi dare un tuo giudizio su questa partita?
DP: Ciao, grazie! Bè c’è da dire che dopo un lungo periodo senza vittorie volevamo vincere questa gara perché era l’ultima della nostra stagione e la giocavamo davanti ai nostri tifosi che ci hanno sempre seguito e quindi volevamo regalare loro un’ultima soddisfazione ma sfortunatamente abbiamo ottenuto soltanto un pareggio.
HT: Che cosa ne pensi di questa prima stagione delle aquile in serie A1?
HT: Sei soddisfatto del modo in cui hai giocato in questa stagione?
DP: Sono contento, sai, cerchi sempre di dare il massimo e migliorare e quest’anno sono riuscito a fare più punti rispetto al solito aiutando così la squadra. Inoltre Misha (Vassiliev, ndr) ha voluto che quest’anno giocassi molto in difesa evitando di prendere un numero eccessivo di penalità e mi sembra di aver messo in pratica i suoi insegnamenti quindi sono molto contento.
HT: Come è stata la tua esperienza qui a Pontebba?
DP: Pontebba è una piccola località quindi se hai bisogno di qualcosa devi fare riferimento a centri più grandi come Villach o Udine ma il pregio di questo posto è che la gente è molto gentile. Tutti gli abitanti di Pontebba sono stati molto carini nei confronti di me e di mia moglie e colgo l’occasione per ringraziarli di cuore.
HT: Ti piacerebbe rimanere per giocare con le Aquile anche la prossima stagione?
DP: Certamente, Però è la società che decide! In ogni caso io sarei contento nel caso mi offrissero la possibilità di rimanere per un’altra stagione.
HT: E adesso cambiamo argomento e…parliamo un po’ di NHL: qual è la tua squadra preferita?
DP: Io vengo da Montreal e quindi mi piacciono i Montreal Canadiens.
HT: C’è un giocatore che ti è servito da riferimento quando eri piccolo?
DP: Mi piaceva molto Scott Stevens che è stato capitano dei New Jersey Devils. E’ stato un grande difensore, molto fisico…una caratteristica che abbiamo in comune!
HT: E infine ti chiediamo…chi vincerà la Stanley Cup quest’anno?
DP: Sinceramente è un po’ difficile qui seguire la NHL quindi non sono informato su quali siano le squadre favorite però…se i Montreal Canadiens si qualificano per i play off spero che la vincano loro!

Right after the game tied with Asiago (3-3), the last game of the season for Team Aquile, we met the scorer of Aquile’s first goal, the Canadian difenceman Dominic Periard and we talked about his impressions regarding this season and much more…
HT: Hi Dominic, first of all congratulations for your goal, how would you judge this last Aquile’s game?
DP: Hi, thanks. Well, we haven’t won a game in a long time and this was our last game of the season and we were playing in front of our fans so we tried to win it for them but unfortunately we only got a tie.
HT: What do you think of Team Aquile’s first season in the Serie A1?
DP: I think that we played very good in the first half of the season, but during the Relegation round the good teams caught up on us. They probably got impressed during the Regular Season but they found an antidote to stop us in this second half of the season in order to grant a spot in the playoffs for themselves.
Overall I can say that nobody expected us to be that good so we surprised them all.
HT: What about your personal performances, are you satisfied of your season with the Aquile?
DP: I am happy, you know, you always try to push yourself and improve. I was able to have more points than I usually do and this helped also the team. Misha (Aquile’s coach) this year wanted me to be more defensive and didn’t want me to get too many penalties and so far I was able to do it so I am very happy.
HT: How was your experience here in Pontebba?
DP: Pontebba is a small town so if you need something you always have to go to bigger places such as Villach or Udine, but the fun part is that everybody knows you and the people have been so good to me and my wife and I thank them for everything they did.
HT: Would you consider staying here for another season?
DP: I would definitely consider it but it’s the management that decides whether they want me here again next year or not.
HT: And now for some NHL talking…who is your favourite hockey team?
DP: I come from Montreal so I would have to say the Canadiens.
HT: Who has been your favourite player growing up?
DP: I liked a lot Scott Stevens who now has retired. He used to be the Captain of the New Jersey Devils. He was a very good defenceman and he was very physical…a characteristic that I pretty much have in common with him!
HT: Who do you think is going to win the Stanley Cup this year?
DP: Well, I haven’t had a chance to follow the NHL that much this year but if Montreal makes it to the play offs I hope they’ll gonna win!
