HockeyTime.netHockeyTime: Puoi dirci le tue impressioni relativamente alla partita?
Dominic Periard: Sono molto contento che abbiamo vinto. L’Alleghe è ritenuta una tra le squadre più forti della Serie A1 mentre noi siamo tra gli ultimi. Anche i giornali davano loro come favoriti e credo che per loro sia stata una grande delusione questa sconfitta, al contrario io sono contento del nostro ottimo risultato.
HT: La vittoria quindi vi darà la giusta carica per preparare la prossima partita…
DP: Oh sì, adesso abbiamo una settimana per prepararci (le Aquile riposeranno la seconda giornata, ndr) e per lavorare sui nostri sbagli: abbiamo preso quattro goal questa sera e sono di gran lunga troppi. L’attacco si è comportato bene mentre non si può dire la stessa cosa per la difesa quindi la pausa cade proprio al momento giusto perché ci darà l’opportunità di migliorare anche nel reparto della blue line.
HT: Quindi secondo te il punto debole della squadra attualmente è la difesa?
DP: Credo che dobbiamo lavorare molto sul piano del gioco di gruppo, in ogni caso abbiamo comunque giocato abbastanza bene dato che è il nostro assoluto debutto nella massima serie e la squadra è composta da molti elementi nuovi. Abbiamo molto su cui lavorare per poter adattarci al meglio nella Serie A1 ma fino a questo momento siamo un gruppo pieno di potenzialità.
HT: Hai partecipato al programma “Making the Cut”, ti è servita questa esperienza?
DP: Oh sì, è stato davvero importante. Ho avuto l’opportunità di essere circondato da allenatori e staff della NHL ed i loro insegnamenti mi hanno aiutato a maturare e a migliorare come giocatore. Allo stesso tempo "Making the Cut" è stato un grande successo in Canada e mi ha dato molta visibilità, una cosa molto importante per un giocatore di hockey.

HockeyTime: Can you tell us your impressions about the game?
DominicPeriard: I am happy we won. Alleghe is rated one of the top teams in the Italian league while we are rated last and the newspapers as well were pretty sure that our opponents would win this game so I think it was a big upset for them while I am glad we won it.
HT: Is this win going to give you some positive energy for the next game you are going to play?
DP: Oh yes, we have one week now to work on our mistakes, we gave up four goals today which is way too much. Offensively we played pretty good but not as well defensively so it’s good that we will have some time to improve our skills in the blue line area.
HT: So do you think that so far defence might be the team’s weakest point?
DP: I think that we have to work hard in improving our play as a unit on the ice, we still played good though since it’s the first year that Pontebba plays in the first division and the team as well is brand new. We have a lot of work to do in order to fit better in the serie A1 but so far we are looking pretty good.
HT: You took part in the show “Making the Cut”, did that experience help you improving your hockey skills?
PD: Oh sure, to me it was a great experience. I got the chance to be surrounded by NHL coaches and staff and learning from them helped me mature and improve as a hockey player. It was a big show in Canada so being a part of it gave me some exposure and it was a good thing for me.
