Alessandro Seren RossoHockey Time: Ciao Vitalij, cosa significa per te prendere parte alle Olimpiadi?
Vitalij Kolesnik: Per me è una fortuna essere qua ed essere parte dei Giochi Olimpici. Ho giocato in praticamente tutto il mondo, Stati Uniti compresi, ma le Olimpiadi sono la competizione più importante che esista, quindi sono decisamente contento di essere qui.
HT: Tu hai sempre giocato soltanto in Kazakistan, prima di approdare direttamente in NHL quest’estate: quant’è stato grande il cosiddetto "grande" salto?
VK: Grandissimo! Però vedi, in America ho tante opportunità che prima non avevo: posso allenarmi fianco a fianco con alcuni tra i migliori giocatori del mondo. Per me è stato un grande passo, sono soddisfatto di come stiano andando le cose e spero che questo mi aiuti nel corso della mia carriera.
HT: Come pensi che l’esperienza Olimpica possa influenzare la tua carriera?
VK: L’esperienza Olimpica è sicuramente un punto fondamentale della mia carriera! Inoltre il fatto di essere qui è positivo, anche perchè la gente può vedere il Kazakistan. Sono entusiasta di poter rappresentare il Kazakistan e darò il mio meglio per la squadra! certo che sarà bello vedere la gente che parla di me e della nostra squadra.
HT: Quali sono gli obiettivi del Kazakhstan per queste Olimpiadi?
VK: Faremo del nostro meglio per arrivare tra i primi otto.

Hockey Time: Hello Vitalij, what does it mean for you to be part of the Olympics?
Vitalij Kolesnik: I am lucky to be here and being part of the Olympic Games. I played in a lot of countries all over the world, even in the USA, but the Olympics are the world’s finest competition so I am very very happy to be here in Torino.
HT: You played in Kazakhstan only before to going directly to the NHL early this summer: how big was the "big jump"?
VK: Bolshoj! But see, in America I have a lot of chances that I didn’t have before: i can practice along some of the world’s best players. It was a huge step for me and I am very satisfied with my current status and I hope that this will help me during my hockey career.
HT: How can the Olympic experience affect that career?
VK: The Olympic experience is surely a corner stone in my career, and the fact to be here is good also because other people can see Kazakhstan playing hockey. I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to rapresent Kazakhstan and I’ll do my best for the team. I have to admit that it’s great to see people talking about me and team Kazakhstan.
HT: What are the chances for Kazakhstan in Torino 2006?
VK: We’ll do our best to finish the Olympics among the best eight.
